We're pretty stoked to announce that the Museum of British Surfing has chosen West Country Websites to work on a refresh of its brand and the development of a completely new website.
Based in Braunton, North Devon, the Museum of British Surfing is the national registered charity dedicated to preserving and celebrating Britain's surfing heritage and culture. Its collection includes surfboards, photography, magazines, films and memorabilia documenting more than two centuries of British surfing history.
For us, this one is a little bit special.
West Country Websites founder Christian Dormer has been involved with surfing for much of his life and has a genuine passion for British surf history, the characters behind it and the stories that deserve to be remembered. He regularly writes about surfing and its history, so getting the opportunity to bring that interest together with what we do professionally was one we couldn't really turn down.
The project will include a refresh of the Museum's visual identity alongside a completely new website designed to better showcase its collection, exhibitions, events, archive and the many stories that make British surfing what it is.
There's a huge amount of history sitting within the Museum, and the aim isn't to turn it into something overly polished or corporate. Quite the opposite. We want the new identity and website to retain the character, authenticity and slightly rebellious nature that has always been part of British surf culture.
It's also exactly the sort of project we love at West Country Websites — working with an organisation that has a proper story behind it and creating something that feels like it genuinely belongs to them.
We'll be sharing more as the project develops.
Proper history. Proper surfing. And, hopefully, a proper job.
